Esther Gonzalez age 73 of San Antonio passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Martinez Sr. and Petra Hernandez; sister, Mary Martinez; brothers, Jesse Martinez Jr. and Roger Martinez.

She is survived by her spouse of 54 years Lionel Gonzalez Sr.; son, Lionel Gonzalez Jr. and wife Jenny; daughter, Lori Sides and husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Lindsey Hawley husband T.J., Zachary Sides, Regan Sides, Ryan Gonzalez and Emma Gonzalez; great grandchildren, Timmy and Parker Hawley; she is also survived by her sister, Olivia Alonzo and husband Jesse; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Esther married her high school sweetheart, Lionel Gonzalez, on June 15th, 1968.  She worked for Southwestern Bell which would later become AT&T from 1972 – 2001.

After retirement she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and attending their sports and extracurricular events.  She was an avid gardener, loved decorating her home and her Christmas tree looked like it should be in a magazine.

She had a million dollar smile, sweet demeanor and a friend to everyone, but above all she was a believer in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed.

St. Dominic's Catholic Church

There will not be a procession to the church.

All services will conclude Monday morning.
