Estella M. De La Vega passed away peacefully on December 9, 2020 at the age of 88, surrounded by her children and her loving dog, Missy.
She was born May 1, 1932, the daughter of Juan and Rosalea Molina, in San Antonio, Texas. She married the love of her life, Arturo De La Vega, in 1951 and remained married until his death in 2017. She dedicated her life to her husband and surviving children: Gerardo De La Vega (Debbie), Elizabeth Riojas (Oscar), Leticia Lopez (Gerry), Ana Rangel (Casey), Catherine Martinez, 12 grandchildren and 5 great children.
She is survived by her brother Eduardo Molina, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker that continuously gave of herself. She easily made friends everywhere she went. She had a passion for slot machines, and loved going to Las Vegas and Kickapoo. We had a long-standing family tradition of making tamales for Christmas that has been passed down to her children and grandchildren. She shared numerous recipes with us all, including her famous oatmeal cookies.
Mom remained mentally sharp and was able to recall many childhood memories, and was able to provide us with GPS-like directions to anywhere in San Antonio. She had a passion for plants and flowers, with an impeccable green thumb.
Mom was a fashionista and always dressed to impress, no matter the occasion. Although Mom loved the titles of momma and grandma, she cherished her most recent title of "Gigi" given to her by her great granddaughter Naya.
