Esperanza Luevano Garza, age 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and loved one went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in San Antonio, TX.
Esperanza was born February 7, 1930 in El Prieto, Zacatecas, Mexico and was preceded in death by her parents Dionicio and Belen (Rodriguez) Luevano. She came to the United States in 1951 where she lived in the Rio Grande Valley and worked at the Texas State Hospital. That same year, she met the love of her life, Guadalupe H. Garza, and they married in 1954 in San Antonio. Together they raised their three children in San Antonio where she worked hard as a seamstress, making sure she and her husband could afford to provide their children with a quality Catholic education. In the late 1980s, she hired eight family members and started her own garment manufacturing business, where she and her family designed, created, and delivered bridal gowns, evening gowns, and pageant gowns throughout Texas and Oklahoma. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing in her free time.
Esperanza, a loving, humble, hard-working, and family-oriented woman, was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Guadalupe, along with numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sisters Maria Gonzalez (Ruben), Alma Luevano, and Doraelda Zepeda (Trinidad); sons Guadalupe Miguel Garza (Rachel Hernandez) and Guadalupe Garza IV (Rachel Garcia); daughter Hope Garza-Cortes (Carlos); grandchildren Rachel Salazar (John), Analisa Garza, Adan Cortes, Mirabella Cortes, and Cordero Cortes; great-grandchildren Liliana Grace Cantu and Isaac Salazar; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
