Esperanza Serna Fernandez, beloved and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the age of 94. Mrs. Fernandez was born on September 23, 1919 and was a Canary Islander descendant. She was preceded in death by her father, Leocadio L. Serna; mother, Mary Louise Nelson; brothers: Adolph and Edward Serna; her daughter, Gloria Fernandez; son-in-law, Richard L. Bishop II and her husband, Isidoro Fernandez, Sr. She is survived by her children, Isidoro Fernandez, Jr. (Shirley), Anna M. Pelayo (Ben), Veronica Sloan (Bob), Marcelina S. Fernandez, Lydia F. Bishop, Victoria Inez Fernandez (Yolanda De La Garza), Luis J. Fernandez (Laura); brother-in-law, Carlos Fernandez; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 20, at 6:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be offered at 7:00 P.M. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 21, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery #2.
