Elgin Herbert Schulmeier, born August 23, 1942 in Wetmore, Texas to Herbert Schulmeier and Evelyn Schulmeier, entered into Heaven on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at the young age of 82. Chief Master Sergeant Elgin Schulmeier served our country in the U.S. Air Force for 37 years. He retired to pursue his passion of family, farming, ranching, and repairing of everything.
Elgin loved ranching, participating in car shows, hunting and time spent with his family and friends. Elgin, "was the type of man that loved to work endlessly and never seemed to wear out." He had an innate drive to get things accomplished coupled with a vast skillset to do just that. Rarely was there a tractor, vehicle, appliance or HVAC unit that he could not repair. You name it, Elgin could fix it! It was often said if Elgin couldn't fix it, no one could!!
Late in his evening, for relaxing, Elgin would check off his tasks completed that day and write up his next day's to do list, watch a western, boxing or wrestling, or a football game in the company of his loving wife, Rhonda and loyal lap pup, Charlie. Elgin had a love for all of his family's pets, especially his 4 dogs, of which Charlie was "his."
The doors of their home were always open, with a heart full of love for his family and friends. As often as time permitted, Elgin loved to pursue one of his passions, his ranch. Upon arrival at his ranch upon pulling into the gates of his ranch, Elgin would announce; "Home Sweet Home!" His ranch was where he found great peace and happiness.
Soon after leaving his ranch Elgin would recount the taste of campfire cooked "huge" meals, the excitement of the next hunt, as he checked off projects completed and those yet to be done. He would reminisce about the serenity in the beauty of his ranch and good times making memories shared with family and friends. Elgin looked forward to the next trip to "Home Sweet Home." Elgin now has opened the gates to his eternal "Home Sweet Home", with his (our) Lord and Savior! Elgin's continued legacy lives on forever in our hearts and all the hard work done by his labor of love!
He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda, son Kenneth Elgin Schulmeier (Laura), daughter Lynette Hill (Dwayne), grandchildren: Kristy Schulmeier (McKenzie), Kimberly Hill (Grundman), Justin Schulmeier, 5 great-grandchildren, adopted son Daymian Rogers, step-children: Henry Rogers, Keith Rogers (Maria), Samantha Rogers; 7 step-grandchildren, numerous other family and friends.
