Edwin Joel Dobbs, Jr., 77, of San Antonio, Texas, passed peacefully at home into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015. He had a generous spirit and will be remembered for his wit, love of western movies, reading (especially history), fishing, cooking exotic foods, Irish music, and listening to the BBC. Ed had a great devotion to St Benedict and St Michael. He proudly served in the US Army and worked as a computer programmer. He was born in Joliet, IL. and was widowed twice. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edwin J. Dobbs, Sr. and Alice Dobbs; wives: Pat (nee Miller) (1964) and Sally (nee Doyle) (2012), and unborn child (1978); sister, Donalee Roberts. He leaves behind seven children, Diane Tucker (Dan), Joseph (Rebecca), Michael (Angela), Mary Frances Middendorf (Michael), Patrick, Thomas, and Catherine; and twenty-two grandchildren; brother-in-law, Phil Roberts. Visitation will be at The Angelus Funeral Home on Sunday from 1pm-4pm. Funeral Mass at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Chapel at 7:30am on Monday followed by burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be said.
