Obituary

DOUGLASS  RAY  SMITH
FEBRUARY 4, 1941 -  JULY 28, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Douglass Smith.  Doug was born in Waco, Texas.  Graduating from high school in Casper, Wyoming, he displayed a love of reading and education, that gave him a Masters of Arts in Art and Architectural History and also a Masters of Educational Administration.

Doug proudly served with the United States Army Security Agency (1962-1965) with a Top Secret Crypto Security Clearance.  Doug's lifetime profession as a high school teacher brought him great joy and satisfaction.   He loved seeing his students reach their full potential.

For relaxation, Doug enjoyed reading, racquetball, kayaking, and was a huge fan of college sports (especially Baylor football and basketball!).   For excitement, Doug loved travel and a bit of casino play.

Doug loves our Lord and Savior.  He had a strong prayer life and lived a life of Faith.  He was smart, joyful, fun, and loved by everyone.  He is deeply missed.

Doug is survived by Delte, his loving wife of 35 years; also by his sister Reba Lois Mayberry (Ken), his daughter, Susan Kempf,  son-in-law, Bill Kempf, and grandchildren: Amelia, Liam, Patrick, and Lleyton Kempf.
