Doretta Tankersley Reif of San Antonio, passed away December 14, 2018 at the age of 94. She was born August 22, 1924 in Gonzalez County, Texas, and grew up loving the countryside and farm her family lived on.

She attended business college in San Antonio. While working at Swift & Company, she met the love of her life, Alvin Reif. They were married February 7, 1948. Doretta went through life with energy, determination and abounding love for her family, and her abundance of friends. Her home was always a beautiful and welcoming place. She loved sharing her gift of conversation and story-telling, and never met a stranger. She loved cooking, gardening and sewing.

Doretta was preceded in death by husband, Alvin Reif, Jr., her parents, brother and a nephew who was raised as a brother. She is survived by her son, Paul Michael Reif, daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Robert Mehl, Rockwall Texas, grandsons Jason Mehl, Colorado, Sean Mehl and wife Liz and great-grandson Julian of Virginia, sisters Eunice Henry, Waxahachie and Nelda Jean Burton, Florida, along with nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.

A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Dec 19, at 9:30 A.M. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Union Hill Cemetery in Nixon, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
