Domingo Rodriguez Castillo, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday October 14, 2017, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 19, 1943 in Bee County, Beeville, TX.
Domingo, affectionately known as 'Sonny', and 'Jr.', was a skilled operator engineer, then self-employed as a truck owner, operator. Sonny had many talents, was a self-made man and most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing guitar and singing. He also had an adventurous spirit which took him and his wife out of the country on several occasions, as well as several trips to Las Vegas.
Sonny had a wit about him, not to be matched, and was deeply respected by his entire family. He taught his boys to be men, who understand their role as men, and provided them the skills they needed to make their way in this world. Many of his grandchildren refer to him as the "coolest grandpa ever", for keeping their mothers' calm, or helping, during tough times, even if it meant just making them all laugh. Sonny had a spirit and charisma about him that could not be resisted by all of the beautiful women in his life. Sonny unconditionally loved all of his sons, daughters, and grandchildren. He was the true leader of his blood family, and his blended family. He will be deeply missed.
Sonny was also a beloved uncle, cousin and friend to many. Domingo was preceded in death by his infant daughter Doris, his father Domingo Castillo, Sr. and his two brothers Roger, and Nasario Castillo.
Domingo is survived by his beloved wife, Sheilah L. Castillo. His mother Lupe R. Castillo, his sons, Gerald, Michael, and Jesse. His daughter JoAnn, and step-daughters Laura, and Pauline. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Zavaleta, Hortencia Carabajal, Estella Marroquin, Doris Castillo, and Aggie Castillo. Finally, he is also survived by numerous grand-children, great grand-children, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Our family has much gratitude for the strength, courage and commitment Sheilah and son Michael showed in Domingo's last days at home. Their unwavering support allowed him to pass in the home he built in 2006. This would not have been possible for Sheilah and Michael without the support all of his children, sisters, and grandchildren who visited, also helped in his care, and expressed their love, so that our beloved Sonny passed, knowing he was deeply loved by all.
