Obituary

Delia Navarro Reina of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024. She was 94 years old.

Delia was born in Asherton, Texas on January 8, 1930. She was the second child, and first daughter of Robert and Isabel Navarro.

Delia moved to San Antonio with her family when she was eight years old and resided at their home on Houston St, until she married her husband, Louis S. Reina, on July 4, 1948, who lived across the street. In 1954, she and her husband, purchased their forever home on Jewell St. in San Antonio residing with their two children at the time, Louis Robert & Angela Delia, where later, their son, Phillip Richard, daughter Roslyn Gail and youngest son, Kenneth Ross were all raised.

The one constant that Delia provided at home, in addition to love and care, was her love of music. There was seldom a time you would not hear the music of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Vicente Fernandez, Vicky Carr, Luis Miguel or Jimmy Edwards playing on the record player, CD or on the radio.

Delia loved gardening in her backyard and when her husband retired, he constructed flower beds, concrete pavement, landscaping, and a gazebo for them and the family to enjoy the many colors of the blossoming plants, hanging from baskets or growing throughout the yard.

Many of her plants came from cuttings she brought back from the places where she would vacation or travel to. From Camp Beans on the Guadelupe River, Gardner State Park, Olmos Park, Disney World, to family events held throughout Texas.

Delia would often point out to visitors/family where each of the plants/blossoms came from and served as wonderful memories of her travels and of course she provided anyone with cuttings to take home.

After her husband passed away, she took up drawing, displaying her artwork and sharing much of her talent with all who came to visit with her at home. She was especially skilled at sketching birds and flowers.

Delia is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Isabel Navarro, the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, Louis S. Reina, her brother Rudolfo (Rudy) Navarro, her sister, Olga (Mary) Felan, her daughter-in-law, Dorothy M. Reina, her son-in-law, Joseph Barrera and great-grandchild, Robert Chance Nsiah.

Delia is survived by her children: Louis R. Reina and wife Liz of Trophy Club, Texas, Angela D. Barrera of Richmond, Texas, Phillip R. Reina and wife Sofie of Richmond, Texas, Roslyn G. De Leon and husband Rick of Round Rock, Texas, and Kenneth R. Reina of San Antonio. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Yvonne, Louie Jr., Joey, Deborah, Stacy, Phillip Jr., Sarah, Richard, Ryan, Johnny, Ozzy, and sixteen great-grandchildren: Louie III, Dorothy, Isabella, Edward, Luna, Sofia, Phillip III, Luke, Gabriella, Emerald, Anthony, Hayes, Jace, Arya, Christian, Ozzy Jr., two great-great-grandchildren, Kira and Maverick and numerous nieces and nephews.
