David M. Garcia beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with our Lord on March 3, 2019 at the age of 71. He was born on February 19, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas to Jose E. and Gregoria Garcia.
David graduated from Lanier High School in 1968. He worked at Fleming Foods for 25 years before it closed. He retired from Rooster Group in 2006 where he began his "Grandpa Daycare" caring for his grandchildren. Although he tried to get fired every day it was the joy to his heart. Throughout his retirement, he enjoyed traveling. Cruises were his favorite thing to do. Nevertheless, the most important thing to David was his family. He loved family nights on Sunday where he was able to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren. The one thing that did strengthen the bond was the love of playing poker.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Hope Alexander and brother Arturo Garcia. David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louisa Garcia. His three children: David (Gracie) Garcia, Cindy Garcia, and Eric (Christina) Garcia. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Aaron, Matthew, Bryan, Maya, Cesely, Natalee, Isaiah, and Kaylee. David is also survived by his siblings: Lydia Garcia, Joe (Yolanda) Garcia, Mary Esther (Alfred) Trevino, Rudolph Garcia, Andrew (Gloria) Garcia, Elizabeth (Frank) Vara and Jimmy Garcia. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Martin (Norma) Casanova and Victor (Maria) Casanova; sister-in-law Angelita Martinez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His family would like to thank Robert Rendon and his staff at Northeast Baptist for their compassionate care during his final days.
