David Goodrich went to meet our Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 21, 2017 while at Christus Sr. Mary Hospice Center. He was born August 27, 1931 to Julia and Philip Goodrich in Houston, Texas.

David graduated from St. Gerard High School in 1950. He married Mary Louise Grohman, the love of his life, on October 23, 1954 in San Antonio. In 1950 David served in the Marine Corps during the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. He was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, First Marine Division. David fought in the Battle at Toktong Pass where he was severely wounded and was subsequently medically retired.

David was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad for 31 years. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, listening to Jimmy Rogers' music, and was the best storyteller.

David was preceded in death by his second son, David Anthony. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Louise; his 3 sons, Michael Joseph of China Grove, John Paul and Glenn Andrew of San Antonio; his 4 lovely daughters, Janet Marie of Boston, MA, Susan Diane of Live Oak, TX, Margaret Catherine of Golden, CO and Mary Melinda of Adkins, TX. David and Mary have 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICES

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 26, at 5:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Angelus Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, September 27, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 28, at 10:00 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
