Obituary

In Loving Memory of Daniel Flores Yanez, born May 9, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jose and Alejandra Yanez, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family.

After graduating from Fox Tech High School in 1954, Daniel answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and bravely served in the Korean War. Following his active service, he continued his commitment to his country through the United States Air Force Reserves, where he honorably served for 33 years and retired as a Master Sergeant with the 433rd Airlift Wing.

Daniel also devoted himself to his community as a member of the San Antonio Fire Department. With 36 years of service, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant, earning the respect of his fellow firefighters and the gratitude of countless families he helped protect.  He was proud of his service both in uniform and in his city, and he carried that same pride into his daily life as a husband, father, and friend.

Beyond his careers, Daniel was a man of deep faith, strong values, and quiet generosity.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing stories from his years of service, and passing down lessons of perseverance, respect, and love. He was a man who believed in hard work, dedication, and always putting family first. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering presence brought joy and comfort to those around him.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Alejandra Yanez; his beloved son, Michael A. Ibarra; his brothers Pete, Raul, Tony, Alfred, Raymond Yanez and Tony Yanez; and his sisters Yolanda Guerra, Soila Salas, and Pauline Gonzales.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Rachael T. Yanez, who stood faithfully by his side throughout life's journey; his sons Daniel and Robert Yanez; his brother Joe Yanez; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends. Each of them carries a piece of his legacy in their hearts.

Daniel will forever be remembered as a man of honor and devotion — a loving husband, a proud father, a guiding brother, a cherished uncle, and a trusted friend. His life was one of service and sacrifice, but also of warmth, humor, and love. Those blessed to know him will continue to feel his influence in their lives, and his legacy of family, faith, and service will endure for generations.

"A life well lived is a legacy of love."
