Daniel Cortez, a beloved husband, father, brother and cherished friend, began his journey to the Lord on September 6, 2024. Born on May 23, 1957, in San Antonio, TX, Danny's life was a testament to love, joy, and dedication.
Preceded in death by his father Julian A. Cortez, Sr.; his mother Herminia A. Cortez, his sister Janie Cortez, and his niece Jamie Jean Cortez, Danny is deeply missed by his devoted wife Jeannie Cortez. He is survived by his siblings Helena Montelongo, Margie Gandy (Kevin), Julian Cortez, Jr. (Lulu), and Miguel Cortez (Jean). He leaves behind six children, fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.
Danny's journey was marked by his steadfast commitment to his family and his passions. Growing up in the South Side of San Antonio, he embraced life with a zest that was truly his own. He dedicated over 20 years as a bus driver with Greyhound, a role he approached with the same passion he applied to all his endeavors.
A true enthusiast of classic cars, Danny had a particular affection for his 1957 Ford, embodying his love for hot rods, drag racing, and custom upholstery. His garage was his sanctuary, where he would often be found working on his latest project, surrounded by the sounds of oldies that brought him joy. His craftsmanship and eye for detail were evident in every piece he created.
Beyond his hobbies, Danny's life was enriched by his love for dancing, watching football, baseball, and savoring time with his family and friends. His presence was a bright light, and his love for westerns and his spirited dance moves will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
While we mourn his passing, the Cortez family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers, love, and support from those who knew and cherished Danny. His spirit touched countless lives, and though he will be greatly missed, he will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
Danny, you will be greatly missed and you will always be with us—in our lives, our wonderful memories, and our hearts. We love you dearly and will honor your memory with the same love and joy you brought to us. We love you and may you Rest in peace!
