Obituary

Santos Cynthia Medellin, age 78, passed away peacefully December 24, 2021. She was born July 9, 1943 in Yorktown, Texas to Reynaldo Hernandez Sr. and Martina Diaz.

She married Juan Ontiveros and gave birth to her oldest son, Donald John. She remarried Jose A. Medellin and gave birth to her second son, Joseph Anthony.

Cindy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was a living example of Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Cindy loved to bake and nurture people. She beamed with love when she could bake and have people gathered making memories. She always had a listening ear, and loved passing on her tips to the next generation - she made everyone feel special. After many years working at Pearl Vision Express, she retired and started to enjoy playing Kino with "the girls" and cheering on her San Antonio Spurs. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church.

Cindy is preceded in death by her brother Reynaldo Hernandez, sister Gloria Schwanz, and parents Reynaldo Hernandez Sr., Ysmael Garcia Sr., and Martina Diaz Garcia.

Cindy is survived by her brothers and sister Francisco Hernandez, Rene (Mary) Garcia, Alicia Krueger, and Ysmael Jr. (Rosie) Garcia; her sons Donald (Nora) Ontiveros, and Joseph Medellin; grandchildren, Brandon and Victoria Ontiveros; two great-granddaughters, Nya Alilia and Ariella Rodriguez; and many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

A memorial ceremony for Cindy's life will be held at Angelus Funeral Home, 1119 N. St. Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78215, on Saturday, January 22, 2022 promptly starting at 1 p.m., ending at 4 p.m.

A mask is required by the family to attend.

Flowers or donations to Four Season's Hospice Care San Antonio, Texas are welcome. Online condolences may be expressed through www.theangelusfuneralhome.com .
