Cristela Vela Canales was called by our Lord on January 28, 2018 at the age of 97.  Born to Agapito and Rebecca Vela in Kingsville, Texas, preceded in death by husband Agustin Canales, son Agustin Canales Jr., granddaughter Sarah Canales, beloved parents, siblings: Rebecca Lawrence, Viola Rodriguez, Agapito Vela Jr., Adelina Duran, and Jessie Vela.  Survived by daughter Sylvia Trevino (Maurice), son David Canales (Beatriz), 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister Mary Romo, brother Joe Vela and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cristela's work ethic began at a young age caring for her siblings.
There was no duty too great or small that she would fulfill, from being
a welder and repairing airplane propellers during WWII to a health caregiver
and countless other jobs.  Her greatest duty was to her family, a devoted wife,
loving mother and grandmother.

Her example and memory will be treasured by so many.
We are all most thankful to have been blessed with her life, love,
and legacy that will live on in us all.
