With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Courand Nicholas "Nick" Rothe, Jr.

He was born in San Antonio, TX, on February 2, 1944, and departed on February 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Courand N. Rothe, MD and Ann T. Strain Rothe, and his sister, Ann Rothe Duvall.

Nick is survived by his wife, Lynn Halstead Rothe, son David (Lori), and grandchildren Tristan, Juliana and Madelyn Rothe of Puyallup, WA, his sisters, Janie Magee (Jim) of Port Aransas and Alice Jones of San Antonio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from St. Mary's University and St. Mary's Law School, Nick was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years.  Having a passion for the law, he distinguished himself as a prosecutor and a defense attorney for 46 years and always tried to do what was right and help the less fortunate and those in need.  He was deeply admired and respected in the legal community, not only in San Antonio, but throughout Texas.

One in a million, Nick was loved by those who knew him. He was the consummate southern gentleman, had a great sense of humor, was a terrific cook, enjoyed having a good time fishing, hanging out at the camp house at the ranch, and spending time in Port Aransas.

This loss is immense and Nick will be greatly missed.

The family will attend a private service on Friday, April 4, 2025.
