Obituary

Corina G. Castillo, beautiful and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called by Jesus Christ on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 97.  She returned to her Creator, seeing Him face to face.  A desire she deeply felt and wanted.

Corina was born July 12, 1925 in Pearsall, Texas to Simon and Eva Gonzalez.  She was the third of six children and the oldest girl.

She was preceded in death by grandsons William R. Castillo and Nicolas Olguin, and great-grandson Jude Lopez.  She is survived by her children Jose (Frank) Castillo and wife, Cynthia (Cindy); Carlos L. Castillo and wife Delia (Dee Dee); Elva Castillo, and Estella (Stel) Benavides and husband Richard; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Corina saw that she had a servant's missionary heart and a great love for God and her family.  She was our great protector, a counselor to many (especially the young), and did anything she possibly could to help those in need.  She was active, full of life and love for all.  Aside from her family, her passion was music and dancing.  She loved working as a Teacher's Assistant for many years, caring for and teaching children, most especially disabled children

Corina's journey in life and finally in death were united to that of Jesus's life and death.  She was most blessed to have Christs' words of pardon and absolution spoken over her at her anointing.  A smile was on her face as she was rewarded with peaceful passing.

Today, as we mourn our loss, we also celebrate and thank God for her life and all the joyous loving recollections she has given us.  In keeping with our church's teaching, and in honoring the memory of our dear mother, we ask for prayers and masses to be said for her.
