Charles Kenneth Sheets, 78, of San Antonio, died on March 27, 2014. He was born on June 11, 1935, in Exmore, Virginia, the son of Kenneth Charles Sheets and Evelyn Sydnor Sheets. He was raised in Washington, DC and Maryland. He attended Carson Newman College in Tennessee, where he played the trombone in the school band and completed his B.A. in mathematics. After college he served in the United States Navy. He then enjoyed a long and successful career as a computer programmer at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. In 1965 he married Minerva Garcia and they remained devoted to each other until her death in 2011. Upon retirement he and Minerva moved to San Antonio to enjoy their sunset years together. He enjoyed baseball, big-band music, and writing letters to the editor on all manner of topics. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by many relatives and friends throughout the United States. Services will be private.
