The world smiled a bit more on March 1, 1931. The day that Celso Cavazos, otherwise known as Lico was born.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lico Cavazos, who went to be with the Lord July 21st, 2022 at the age of 91.
Lico was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a proud veteran, jokester and occasional counselor as all great barbers are.
Lico was a second generation barber before he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 in the 82nd Airborne. After his time in the service, Lico returned to barbering with his father, and spent the next 61 years cutting hair and building amazing relationships and friendship with all who entered and sat in his chair.
Everyone that knew Lico knows that he loved to laugh. He could be found reading out of his joke books or the daily paper memorizing new material waiting eagerly to recite it to anyone willing to listen. He loved to make you laugh along with him. It was always difficult to tell if what he was about to tell you was serious or if a punchline was coming. Most of the time it was the punchline which would cause him to bust out his contagious laugh that would brighten even the gloomiest of days.
In the early mornings, he and his wife of 70 years, Angela Cavazos, were always so eager to start the day. They'd wake up, drink their coffee, tend to their garden, and take care of any chores they had together. It was a rare site to see one without the other. Unless they went to the store and Angela would leave him behind to get the shopping done while Lico started up a conversation with someone new. They were the epitome of love.
Lico is survived by his wife Angela, their four children Jerry, Martha, Steven, and Roland. His sister Beatrice. As well as many grand and great grandchildren.
Lico was preceded in death by his brothers Antonio and Richard.
