Our beloved matriarch, Celia Marmolejo Guerra, departed her loving family and went home to Jesus on September 7, 2021 at age 87. She was born in San Antonio on October 21, 1933 to Amalia Perales and Antonio Marmolejo. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Genoveva Casillas, and sons, Floyd Guenther, Anthony Aguilar, Jr. and Edward Herrera.
She is survived by her daughters: Sandra Cavazos, Carol Gonzalez and Laura Montalvo, son-in-law, Vincent Montalvo, grandchildren: Anthony Aguilar III, Michael Aguilar, Jason Guenther, Frederick Guenther, Adam Garza, Jr. (Erica Montemayor), Andrew Garza (Jeanette), Ashly Garza (Austin Waugh), Ava Ditto, Stephanie Estrada (Rudy), Ann-Margaret Gonzalez, Matthew Cavazos (Samantha Rivera), Priscilla Forey, Kayla Wiltz (Josh), Amber Shelton, and great grandchildren: Daniel Garza, Eli Estrada, Ethan Estrada, Jude Estrada, Celia Carol Ann Lozoya, Azreal Guenther, Connor Guenther, Mia Canales and Hailey Waugh.
She worked for many years at the State and Metropolitan Hospitals. She was a pillar of strength and very devoted to her family. She was giving, loving, sharp-witted and her faith was very important to her. Her laugh would instantly bring a smile to your face. She was a phenomenal cook and took great pride in preparing delicious dishes for her family especially during the holidays.
She was a definite football fan and loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech and Texas A&M University. She also enjoyed watching the San Antonio Spurs and listening to big band jazz and mariachi music. She had a green thumb and could make almost anything grow. She especially loved roses and fig trees. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She lived a full life and her family is blessed to have shared it with her. She will be dearly missed.
