Cecilia Segura, our beloved sister, aunt, godmother, and friend entered eternal rest on January 2, 2023. Cecilia was born on February 1 st , 1925. She was 97.
Cecilia was one of the few to attend and graduate Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in San Antonio, TX. She attended University of Houston, University of Texas San Antonio, Incarnate Word College, and Our Lady of the Lake University to receive her bachelor's degree. She taught in the Defense Language Institute - English Language Center (DLI-ELC) at Lackland Air Force Base Texas. She retired from DLI-ELC and continued teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) at Willie Velasquez Center. She also volunteered to aid those working on their GED.
Cecilia dedicated herself to the service of others. She was the family prayer warrior through intercession. She truly exemplified our Lord Jesus by living modestly with an unwavering faith in Him and reverence for the Blessed Mother. When you heard her say, "Yoo Hoo", you knew you were embraced with love. She may have been strict but always wanted us to be the best of ourselves. She loved us so very much and would often end a visit or phone call with blessings and saying, "she loved you pray."
She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Marcelina and Jose Rodriguez and Octaviano and Eduviges Exiga Segura; loving parents, Leonor and Augustin Segura; loving siblings, Augustin Segura Jr. (Tino), Maria de los Angeles, Jose Segura (Pepe), Maria Eduviges Barner (Nena), Maria de la Luz Phalen (Chiqui), and Maria de Consuelo Segura Cuellar (Nana).
She is survived by her brothers-in law, Robert Barner and William Phalen; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
