Cecelia Anita (née Parras) Paniagua
November 30, 1948 – September 16, 2026
Cecelia Anita (née Parras) Paniagua was born on November 30, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Marcelino Parras and Justa (née Herrera) Parras. Her 77 years on earth came to pass on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Roland Paniagua; her parents; seven siblings; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews & nieces.
She is survived by her only child, Rosalinda Paniagua Crosby (Patrick); her brothers, Victor Parras (Patricia) and Esteban "Steve" Parras; her sister, Josephina "Josie" Parras-Morones (Conrado); and lastly her grand-dogs: Cenisa, Miriam, Gracie & Sallie. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews, and nieces from both her family and her husband's family, along with many people she proudly called friends.
Cecelia, affectionally referred to as "Momma" by me, attended Sidney Lanier High School and later enrolled in beauty school. She went on to enjoy a career as a hairdresser that spanned more than 30 years.
Momma was a member of the Sociedad Fraternal Cruz Blanca where she served as their secretary for many years. She found happiness in going dancing, the thrill of playing bingo, the excitement of going to the movies, and the simple pleasure of dining out with loved ones. During her quiet moments, she would immerse herself in the challenge of crossword puzzles, the satisfaction of jigsaw puzzles, and the calming activity of adult coloring. Momma also had a special fondness for collecting what she lovingly called "little cositas," each bringing a touch of warmth to her home. Her greatest joy came from her beloved Christmas tree, which she lovingly decorated every month to reflect the spirit of each holiday season. It brought her a sense of warmth and happiness all year round. In her unique way, she found beauty in living and loving on her own terms, warmly touching the lives of those around her.
One of Momma's most endearing qualities was her strong-willed spirit. While her stubbornness could sometimes be challenging, it also reflected her deep passion for what she believed in, a trait I affectionately acknowledge that I inherited. It's a reminder of our shared strength and the love that bonded us together through both our challenges and joys.
Momma had a remarkable ability to connect with people; she never met a stranger. No matter where she went, she could effortlessly spark a conversation, making others feel as if they had known her for years. I cherish having inherited that same wonderful gift, knowing it will be a part of me until I leave this earth.
At the start of her final journey, Momma faced immense health challenges. During this time, Mom and I entered a quiet phase where our shared stubbornness came to light. It was an incredibly difficult time, but her sister-in-law (my aunt), Martha Paniagua, stepped in with unwavering support. Martha supported Mom during appointments and procedures, and she helped at home when things became overwhelming for her. I am truly grateful for Martha's kindness and dedication, as it meant that Momma did not have to bear this burden alone.
We will not focus on the trials and mistakes of the past; instead, we will move forward, knowing that we did our best to care for one another. In the end, what remains are the moments we cherish, the love we shared, and God's blessings for a better life beyond this one. Death is but the next great adventure.
At Momma's request, services will be held privately. The Crosby, Parras, Morones & Paniagua families are thankful for those services, facilities, staff, dear friends & extended family who were present to love, help, and provide support during Momma's time on earth.
Dear Lord, in YOU we trust to welcome this beautiful soul by YOUR side. As of today, I don't pray to ask anything for myself but for Cecelia (Momma), who has passed away.
May all her suffering, sins and sadness be left in the living world. A part of me has left to be next to YOU, our Lord and Saviour. In YOU, I trust to guide this beautiful soul to find Heaven and Peace.
I will love you always, Momma.
Love you eternally,
Rosalinda
