Obituary

Carol Marie Barnes, age 79, passed away in San Antonio, Texas, on February 6, 2025.  She was born on December 1, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts.  Her mother, Gloria Barnes, preceded her in death.

Carol joined the military at age 19, became an LPN, and traveled to Germany, Japan, and various other U.S. military posts.  Upon leaving military service, she joined the Postal Service in San Antonio, Texas, as a mail carrier for many years before retiring from the government.

Carol's true devotion was to the Catholic Church where she was a lifelong member, growing steadily in faith and the Sacramental life.  She was a humble and generous person, detached from the things of the earth, and her eyes on heaven.  The rosary was her companion and her prayer life constant.  She met the suffering at the end of her life with heroic fortitude and without complaint.

Her friends and acquaintances knew her as trustworthy and dependable, counting on her when assistance was needed.  She humbly expressed gratitude for the smallest kindness done for her.  She was a true friend, offering support and prayers for all those she knew.

Carol moved through this world without fanfare and with absolute selflessness.  In death, she lives in those who knew her, having taught us much from her humility and devotion to Our Lord and the Blessed Mother.  May the Blessed Mother defend her now and may the Lord richly bless her and reward her for her faith-filled life.
