Carmen S. Rodriguez passed away on December 16, 2022 at the age of 95.  She was a loving and devoted mother who brought up five children during early difficult times after her husband, Raul L. Rodriguez's passing in 1966.  Carmen worked in the late 60's at Aldon clothing manufacturing as a clothing inspector for several years, where she decided to change careers.

She then worked with Willie Velasquez at the Voter's Registration helping to promote new voters to register to vote for several years, where she realized she enjoyed meeting and teaching people on how to improve their knowledge on civil rights and improving their health, then she decided to help people in a different way.

Carmen then went to work for the Texas A&M Department of Nutrition/WIC program, where once she was certified she would go to young and new mother's homes to teach nutrition and healthy cooking and ways to improve the young families' lives.

From there, Carmen then retired continuing to enjoy her love for cooking and enjoying her family, children, grandchildren, then great-grandchildren…to whom she was loving and affectionately known as Grandma Carmen!  Mom was the matriarch of the family and will forever be missed.

Everyone that got to know Carmen realized her dedication, along with her loving and caring helpful ways for those who were fortunate to know her.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Raul L. Rodriguez; mother, Maria Alvarez; father, Gilberto Sanchez; brother, Mike Sanchez; sister, Teresa Hernandez; brother, Joe Charles.  She is survived by her children and their spouses: Raul and Connie Rodriguez, John and Marie Rodriguez, Carmen and Rudy Leal, Rene and Elia Rodriguez, Mark and Claire Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm.

Services will conclude Wednesday evening.
