Calistra C. Castillo, age 80 of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her close family on Friday, July 30, 2021. Her husband Pedro preceded her in death in 2007.
When Calistra wasn't working at the Alamodome, she embraced every moment she had with her loving family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. When her family asked for help, she never said no. She often danced like no one was watching and had a contagious laugh with a smile that lit up any room. She loved our weekend family dinners at her favorite restaurant, La Margarita, or in our homes. She was a strong, independent woman who was full of faith and loved to live life. She lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. She taught her family to love with compassion and have faith in our God. God chose the perfect mother for her daughters and grandmother for her grandchildren.
We will be forever thankful to the Lopez Home and Blue Horizon Hospice. The Lopez Home cared for her until her last breath and made her feel like family. Blue Horizon Hospice provided her medical care until her final resting place with our Lord.
She is survived by her children: Brenda Conrad (Andrew), Melissa Castillo-Cerda (Albert) and Michele Herrera (Jason), grandchildren: Andrew Jr., Katarina, Alissa, Madeline, Izabella, Natalie, and Ethan; sisters: Nicolosa Vela, Maria Cantu, Juanita Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Her legacy will live on. She will forever be in our hearts.
