Obituary

It has pleased God to call to Himself our BRO. RICHARD ROESCH, S.M., who died on September 2, 2014, at the age of 91 after 72 years of religious profession. Bro. Richard was born in Euclid, Ohio, to Louis and Marie (Saletel) Roesch, on August 14, 1923, one of seven children who prayed the family rosary, kneeling in the living room. When he was 15, he went from Cathedral Latin School in Cleveland to the Marianist Postulate in Beacon, New York, and from there to its Novitiate where he took his first vows in 1942. In college, he earned a B.S. in Education from the University of Dayton, followed by Masters in History, Media, and Library Science. Bro. Richard taught in Iowa, Dayton, and Baltimore before moving west to work in California and Hawaii schools for 35 years. In 1986 he returned home as a city librarian in Cleveland for 15 years. In 2002, he retired to the Marianist Residence at St. Mary's University. A rosary will be said at 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 7, in the Marianist Residence Chapel. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 4:00 PM, Monday, September 8, in the same chapel, with interment to follow in the Marianist Cemetery at St. Mary's University.
