Bro. Gerard (Jerry) A. Sullivan, S.M. died in the service of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 3, 2024, at the age of 93 and with 73 years of vowed life. He was the oldest of three children born to Gerard C. and Loretta M. (Boyle) Sullivan on October 3, 1930, in St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his brother James, and his sister Mary Elizabeth.  He is survived by his cousins Kathi Kaiman Peterson, Gee Kaiman, and Thomas Kaiman.

After completing Chaminade High School St. Louis, he entered the Marianist Novitiate in Galesville (Marynook), WI and professed his First Vows on August 15, 1950.  He earned a bachelor's degree in social studies and a master's degree in education from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.  He completed a two-year program in drug and alcohol counseling at San Jose State University.

Bro. Jerry's teaching career began in Texas, at Central Catholic H. S. in San Antonio and St. Joseph High School in Victoria. "My vocation has been an incredible adventure, and I wouldn't trade any part of it. I get on my knees every night and thank Mary and God for the wonderful gift of my vocation," he says.

Bro. Gerard retired in Baltimore, where he lived until 2011, when he moved to the Marianist Residence in San Antonio. Here he exemplified a ministry of prayer until his death.
