Obituary

Betty Jean Neil Cox passed away in her sleep on April 14, 2016.  She was born on Christmas Eve in 1933, the youngest of nine children and although the times were often hard, she carried with her many cherished memories of her growing up years, and she formed early friendships that lasted throughout her life.

She was a true beauty and married a handsome guy named Alan when she was only sixteen.  They would remain married for 62 years, until his death in 2011.  She was and will forever remain a remarkable gift and blessing to her family and friends.  Our concerns, endeavors and delights were her concerns, endeavors, and delights.  She was humble and pure of heart and she made us all feel safe and accepted, encouraged and capable, equal to any task.  She was a special and important world to her grandchildren, a magical place they could enter and feel well by gosh, just look at me, aren't I the most adored, amazing, protected person who ever walked on the face of this earth.

Betty was fun and playful and how we loved her laughter.  Today we feel and almost hear her laughing with the angels, of which surely she is now one.  No one could be more angelic than our gracious, caring, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  You were ours Mama, Nana, Mama Betty, Aunt Betty, Betty Jean, Ms. Betty, Mrs. Cox, and you will always be ours. Lucky, lucky us!

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Alan George Cox, and by many relatives and friends.  She is survived by her six children, Cathi, George (Jenny), Becky (Vaughn), Barbara (Clifford), Danny (Kathy), Jennifer (Matt); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
