It is with great sadness that the family of Benito Julio Mendoza announce his passing on November 10, 2024. Benito was 76 years old and lived in Converse with his wife of 52 years, Clementina. He passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side. During his lifetime, Benito earned two retirements, first from the US Army and then from the US Postal Service. While in Army, he rose to the rank of First Sergeant and felt proud to be referred to as "Top". During his years in the Post Office, he served as Postmaster in Poteet and retired as Customer Service Analyst for the Rio Grande District. Benito also earned a Bachelors Degree from Wayland Baptist University.
Benito, fondly known to his grandchildren as Pappo, was born to Julio and Guadalupe Mendoza on June 3, 1948 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a father and grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with them. He was always there for them, whether just to listen and understand or offer support when needed. He was his grandchildren's number-one fan, always there to offer his love, support, and encouragement and to attend as many functions and sports activities as he could, whether local or out of town. He was also a great brother and friend. He will forever be remembered for his firm handshake, bear hugs and his powerful voice.
Benito's loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Clementina; their children, Benito Julio Jr, Federico and his wife Jackie, Silvia and her husband Rick; his six grandchildren: Donovan, Drew, Nathan, Hadley, Brayden and Harper; his sister, Noelia Garcia and her husband Albert, his brothers Belisario Alfonso and his wife Rosie, Jose Rolando and his wife Mary Rose, Carlos and his wife Leticia, Victor Manuel and his wife Mary Helen, Luis Enrique, and Mario and his wife Ranae, along with numerous nephews and nieces. Preceding him in peace were his parents, Julio and Guadalupe.
