Beatriz P. Maldonado, age 90, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2022. A native San Antonian, Beatriz was born to Emilio H. Puente and Maria Aurora Dominguez on April 15, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, George Maldonado; siblings, Jesus, Emilio and Roberto Puente; and her loving aunt, Francisca Dominguez. She is survived by her children, Dr. George Maldonado (Carla), Harold Maldonado (Linda), Karen Rodriguez (Ray), Valerie Lew (Lew); her grandchildren, Lisa Chapa (Santos), Dr. Rachel Freeman (Bobby), Max Maldonado, James Maldonado (Adelina), Marisa Thurmond (Phillip), John Maldonado (Monalisa), Nicholas Rodriguez (Melanie), Katarina Rodriguez (Rosie), Brianna Maldonado (Dylan); great grandchildren, Finley and Dean Freeman, Avery Chapa, Gardenia Maldonado, Jonah Maldonado and Bridger Thurmond.
Beatriz was a wonderful example of an individual who believed in family, who enjoyed life to the fullest, who welcomed others to her home and who loved unconditionally. She loved her family with all her heart and was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a very special relationship with each one of them in a unique way. Her voice always sounded happy and she gave valuable advice with a positive attitude. She was admired for her generosity, inner strength, quick wit, mischievous sense of humor, artistic creativity, love of nature, green thumb, culinary skills and most of all, her spiritual faith. She took on challenges and stretched the limits. She was active in politics and ran for Democratic Committee Woman in a close race. She was concerned with current events and was sure to cast her vote on a regular basis. She was a fighter and a breast cancer survivor. She welcomed those who did not know the love of a family and many people adopted her as their own grandma. She continued to love her family and remained fully active as she cared and prayed for her loved ones. She prayed for her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friends. We are comforted knowing that she will continue to be our advocate in heaven. She remains close to our hearts and continues to love us in eternity.
