In Loving Memory of Beatrice G. Saloma
December 13, 1941 – May 21, 2025
Beatrice G. Saloma, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Alice, Texas on December 13, 1941, and raised in San Antonio, Beatrice's life was a radiant testament to kindness, strength, faith, and humor.
Beatrice's journey took her across many cities—San Antonio, College Station, Mexico City, Pamplona, and St. Louis—but her heart was always centered around her family and her deep Catholic faith. A proud graduate of Providence Catholic School and Our Lady of the Lake University, she went on to devote over three decades of her life to the field of education. Whether teaching at Palo Alto Elementary in San Antonio, Our Lady of the Pillar in St. Louis, or working in the educational programs at Bexar County Jail, Beatrice saw the dignity and potential in every student she encountered.
She is survived by her five devoted children: Abraham E. Saloma, Rafael Ricardo Saloma, David Antonio "Paco" Saloma, Begoña Elizabeth Saloma, and Mikel Imanol Saloma (spouse Amy W. Saloma). Her greatest joy was being "Mom Bea" to her cherished grandchildren: Abraham Jesus Saloma-Mejia, Cesar Antonio Saloma-Mejia, Felix Emanuel Saloma, Mark Robert Saloma, and Daniel Mikel Saloma. She is also survived by her brother, Manuel H. Gonzalez, and many cousins, nieces and nephews who adored her.
Beatrice now joins in eternal rest her beloved parents, Manuel and Beatrice H. Gonzalez, and her brothers David and Daniel.
Her passions were simple and sincere. She loved watching Hallmark movies and anything starring Tom Selleck, and she never missed a chance to go on long walks—stopping to pet every dog that crossed her path. In her later years, these quiet walks, visits with her grandchildren, and moments of laughter with loved ones brought her immense peace and joy.
Those who knew Beatrice will remember her warm smile, her fierce love for her family, her unwavering faith, and her ability to find humor even in life's toughest moments. She showed all of us how to live with grace and how to love without condition.
