Obituary

Beloved, devoted, and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Aurora Rivera, warmly known to some as "Rory" passed to her heavenly celebration on October 20, 2020 at the age of 89.

She was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 18, 1931 attended public schools, graduated from San Antonio Tech High (now Fox Tech) in 1949.  She was a good Christian and devout Catholic.  As a daughter she was her mother's caretaker during her final illness.  As a wife she was an active and strong supporter of her husband in his legal practice and judicial service.  As an individual she was a longtime volunteer at Santa Rosa Hospital Auxiliary (now Christus Santa Rosa).

In 1990 the hospital recognized and honored her for 7000 hours of service.  She had amassed over 9000 hours when she stopped volunteering.  As a mother she volunteered, supported and participated in all of her son's activities.  As a grandmother she gave all the love, care and help a grandmother could give and a little bit more.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Pena and Nicolasa Cantu Peña; also, brother Robert Peña and sisters Olga "Penny" Peña and Jessie Peña Villarreal; daughter-in-law Stephanie Anne Rivera and her beloved husband Judge Raul Rivera of 62 blessed years.

She is survived by her son Paul D. Rivera and granddaughter Grace LeighAnne Rivera, sister Paula Peña and husband Manuel Fernandez, sister-in-law Patricia Peña; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews whom she adored.

We mourn the loss of Rory but also celebrate her glorious welcome to her eternal life and loving embrace in Heaven.  We give thanks for the years she was with us.

Special thanks to the retirement Village at Incarnate Word and the Seraphic Sisters and staff at St. Francis Nursing Home for their love and care during her final years.
