Obituary

It is with heavy and loving hearts that we announce the passing of Arturo V. Gonzales, affectionately known to his children and grandchildren as "Papa." After a courageous nine‑month battle with Stage 4 cancer, Arturo passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, stepping into eternal rest and reuniting in Heaven with his beloved wife, Nancy Gonzales, whom he had missed dearly since her passing in 2014.

Born to Salvador Gonzalez and Mariana Vara, Arturo lived with a heart wide open and a spirit that filled every room he entered. He was deeply loved by many and genuinely liked by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was loud in the most beautiful ways—full of laughter, stories, generosity, and a larger‑than‑life presence that made ordinary days feel unforgettable.

For more than 34 years, Arturo dedicated himself to CPS Energy, where he was known as a hardworking service and meter journeyman lineman, a dependable teammate, and a man who took immense pride in providing for his family. His generosity knew no limits. No one ever left his home hungry, and he never hesitated to drop everything to help someone he loved. Caring for others was not something he did—it was who he was.

Arturo's deep voice, quick wit, sharp sarcasm, and endless jokes were the soundtrack of countless family memories. He had a gift for turning simple moments into cherished stories, for teasing the people he loved most, and for filling gatherings with laughter that lingered long after he walked out the door. He loved good food, meaningful conversations, and traveling—especially alongside his loving partner of over 11 years, Cynthia Kee, with whom he shared adventures, companionship, and joy.

He is survived by his brothers, Alfredo Gonzales and Andres Gonzales; his children, Melany Gonzales and Art Gonzales; and his adored grandchildren—Alexandria, Emma, Joshua, Archer, and Isla—who were the lights of his life. He also leaves behind many family members and friends who will forever miss his warmth, his humor, and his unmistakably larger‑than‑life presence.

Above all, Arturo will be remembered for his enormous heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. Though his voice may no longer echo through the room, the warmth of his laughter, the strength of his love, and the stories he leaves behind will continue to live on—in the people he shaped, the memories he created, and the legacy he leaves forever in our hearts.
