Andres M. DeLeon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend entered eternal rest on February 5, 2022 at the age of 69 after a two year battle with cancer.
Andy, fondly known by all his family and friends, was born on December 1, 1952 in Frankfurt, Germany to Andres S. and Diamantina D. DeLeon.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law, Lon Potter and numerous aunts and uncles.
Andy leaves behind to cherish his memories wife, Rebecca; daughter, Michele Goodale (husband James); sons: Michael DeLeon (wife Vicky), Ryan Garza (wife Kimberly), Andrew Garza (girlfriend Sarah Lucio) and Devin DeLeon; his beloved grandchildren: Ethan, Rylan, Amelie, Dylan and Andres; sisters: Diana Potter and Carmen DeLeon-Dingman (husband Jack); his sisters' children: Nicole, Mariah, Nicolas and Christopher which held a very special place in his heart, along with numerous relatives and friends.
Andy served his country and community all of his adult life, with 20+ years in the United States Army both active and reserves. In June of 2021, he retired from the police force after serving 40 years as a police officer in every capacity from patrolman to Chief of Police.
Andy will always be remembered for his faith in the Lord, his love of family, his kindness and service oriented soul that touched the hearts of thousands of family members, friends, fellow Officers, and colleagues throughout the years.
Andy was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, never intentionally willing to miss a game. He had a heart of gold, a smile that lit up a room and was known to always go the extra mile to help in any way he could.
Andy's pride and joy were his 5 grandchildren (Ethan, Rylan, Amelie, Dylan and Andres) that called him "Popo" the name our Dad was called by his grandchildren. We are so thrilled he had a chance to meet his namesake Andres the youngest of them all and although he only had limited time with them, the family will make sure they all know him and remember what a wonderful man their "Popo" was.
Andy's last assignment was with the Northeast Independent School District Police Department where he had a huge impact on the students, faculty and staff. The students loved Andy and lovingly called him "grandpa." He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
