Anastacia "Tachita" Paez González, our beloved madre and abuelita , passed peacefully in the early morning of June 10, 2019. She was surrounded by her children and family. She was born on February 5, 1940 to Fernando Paez and Sara Martínez Paez in Clarkwood, Texas and raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León. She married Roberto Diaz González on April 28, 1957 shortly thereafter moving to San Antonio where she began a life as a devoted wife and mother.
Tachita was a women of faith and strong convictions. She was a pillar in the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church community and volunteered in several organizations. Throughout the years, she was engaged in the Guadalupanas and Coro Mexicano and hosted talks on the holy rosary. At church festivals, her booth of gorditas and spicy salsas was a favorite. After her children grew, Tachita and her husband continued to volunteer in the St. Mary Magdalen school cafeteria.
During the Christmas season, Tachita opened her home to anyone who wanted to view the Nativity that she lovingly added to until it covered half of her living room! As word spread, even the local television news crews came to see the Nativity.
Tachita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years and her son José Gerardo. She is survived by her children Roberto and his wife Carmen; Gilberto; María Solis and her husband Juan; and Humberto and his wife Esther. Also her grandchildren Alejandro, Cristina and Guillermo González; Araceli and Francisco Solis; Lucero Colon and her husband David; Diego González; and one great-grandchild Zaydrian Colon.
