Alice Cadena Camacho, returned to her heavenly home on May 11, 2017. Alice was born to the late Pablo and Catalina Cadena. Alice was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend and high school sweetheart, Robert Camacho, on April 19, 1969. Together they raised five children.
Alice devoted 32 years of her life to the San Antonio Independent School District as a school bus driver, primarily serving special needs students. She worked through March 2017 and was set to retire in June 2017. Alice loved her family and looked forward to weekly Saturday lunches with her sister-in-laws and Sunday barbeques with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed trips to the coast for beach time and fishing. Alice was known for making the most delectable chicken sandwiches, enchiladas, soft tacos, arroz con pollo, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, and the list goes on. Alice also happened to be the number one Spurs fan in San Antonio. She proudly displayed her Spurs flag outside her home on game days and would often be at the airport –win or lose— to welcome them home during the playoffs.
Alice will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, witty sense of humor, direct advice and strong faith. Even in her final days her love for the Lord never wavered. Her message to each of her children before her passing was "Never depart from the ways of the Lord." These words were shared with her by her father before his passing. Their legacy for loving the Lord will continue for generations to come.
Alice is survived by Robert E. Camacho, her loving husband of 48 years, and their children: Sharon and Ed Koehler; Robert Camacho Jr. and Melissa Hernandez; Rhoda and Santos Villarreal; James Camacho and Tahanee Picou; Jaclyn and Robert Lawson; and grandchildren, Shelby and Kailyn Koehler. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister: Arturo and Yolanda Cadena; Amelia and the late Eleazar Sanchez; and Armando and Ester Cadena. Alice was also extremely loved by numerous brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all dearly miss her.
