Obituary

Alfredo (Fred) Ramirez:

Fred was born to Ramiro Ramirez and Guadalupe Ramirez in San Antonio Texas and was the oldest of their four children.

He is survived by his wife Rosaura Ramirez, daughter Jennifer Johnson (Brad) and son Jason (Suzy),  four grandchildren (Zachary, Vincent, Isabella, Liliana), two brothers, Ramon (Maggie), Ramiro (Dorothy) and one sister, Rosie (Joe).... and an extended family that he influenced with his wit and wisdom.

Fred graduated from La Salle High School before enlisting in the army and serving as a combat engineer in the conflict in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart. After returning to the States he worked at San Antonio Development Agency several years.  He subsequently earned his BA from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in Vocational Education and taught at South San High School for many years. He dedicated his later life in service to others as a special education professional at Memorial High School and serving the Church's broader mission in his work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher.

He was very involved with his children's activities including coaching football, baseball, softball, and soccer and encouraged them to follow their dreams. Fred also made it a point to try to attend events and ceremonies for his children and grandchildren.  He and his wife Rosaura also enjoyed going to dances.

He was a man of practical patience, and deep understanding, with a quiet love of his family, his country, and his God.
