Agnes "Tootsie" Adamo Guido passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023. Earlier that day, surrounded by her loving children, last rites were performed. Tootsie was 91 years young. A native San Antonian, she was loved not only in the Italian community but by many across Texas and beyond.
Born on July 6, 1932 to Jenny and Louis Adamo, Tootsie attended St. Mary's Catholic Girls School. She married her beloved husband Louis L. Guido Jr. on January 25, 1953. Tootsie and Louis raised four children and enjoyed many happy years together before Louis's passing in February 2011. Tootsie was devoted to Louis and their family and friends. Most of Tootsie and Louis's life together was spent in San Antonio with a few decades living by the water in Rockport, Texas, where they enjoyed boating, collecting art, and selflessly volunteering at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Rockport, Texas. Tootsie also volunteered at Rockport's Castaways charity thrift shop and as a docent at the Fulton Mansion.
Louis and Tootsie also enjoyed entertaining family and cherished friends. She loved to cook authentic Italian meals to nourish and celebrate her family. Tootsie had a passion for needlepoint and was an avid knitter and incredible seamstress. She spent many hours perfecting beautiful creations that have been passed to children and grandchildren. Tootsie created numerous works of stained glass over the years. Some she made for shows, others for consignment but the biggest and best works she saved for charity fundraisers in Rockport for Ducks Unlimited and Coastal Conservation Association (CCA).
Tootsie was preceded in death by her husband Louis L. Guido Jr., her parents and her sisters Mary Lou Bullard and Felicia Tocci. Tootsie is survived by her adoring children, daughters Jennifer "Jenni" Guido and Dr. Nancy L. Guido, sons Louis L. Guido III and Paul Anthony Guido and his wife Susie Guido, and many nieces and nephews. Tootsie is also survived by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Grandson John "Jas" Sawyer, granddaughters Julie Guido, Elise Tate and husband Jonathan, Amanda Crouch and husband Scott, and grandson Louis L. "Quattro" Guido and wife Becky.
Tootsie's greatest joys were her great-grandchildren Mason, Paige, Kayla and Taylor Tate, Clifford and Elvis LaFosse, and Vincenzo "Vinny" Guido. The family would like to acknowledge Maria Balderrama for her many decades of dedication and care of their mother Tootsie.
